Ceramic coating · Colorado Springs

Ceramic coating for your Porsche.

Tell us about your Porsche’s paint, existing film and usual washing routine. A garage-kept weekend car and a daily driver may need different preparation. Coating can help with cleaning; it cannot stop stone chips or erase existing scratches.

How it works

What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid applied to prepared paint or compatible PPF. It cures into a thin layer that helps water and dirt release, making washing easier. It does not provide the thick barrier against stone chips that paint protection film does.

How ceramic coating covers a prepared surface

Ceramic coating is liquid-applied to prepared paint or compatible film. It helps with cleaning; it is not a peelable sheet or a barrier against stone impacts.

What happens during installation?

  1. Clean and assess the finish

Washing and decontamination remove material that would interfere with bonding. Any agreed work on existing paint marks happens before coating; the coating itself does not remove scratches.

  2. Apply and level the coating

The installer applies a controlled layer and levels the residue to leave an even finish. The product must suit the surface, including any existing paint protection film.

  3. Allow it to cure

The coating needs the prescribed curing period before water exposure or washing. You receive care instructions for the product actually applied to your car.

What are the benefits?

Using both

Can I use PPF and ceramic coating together?

Yes. Put film on the panels you want protected from chips and everyday contact, then use a compatible ceramic coating to make those surfaces easier to wash. You can also coat the paint on panels that do not have film.

Ceramic coating goes over compatible PPF

PPF provides a physical layer against some road wear. A compatible ceramic coating goes over the film to help with cleaning; the two products serve different purposes.

  1. Prepare the paint.

Clean and assess the finish. Tell us about repairs, existing film or coating so the surface can be prepared for adhesion.

  2. Install the PPF.

Fit the film to the selected panels, then let it settle and prepare it for coating according to the product instructions.

  3. Coat the compatible surfaces.

Apply the compatible coating over the film and any exposed paint you want coated, then allow it to cure. We’ll explain when to wash the car and how to care for both products.

XPEL makes FUSION PLUS coatings for use with compatible PPF, including options for satin finishes. Read XPEL’s product guidance.

Preparation and finish details

Coating goes over the finish that is already there. We inspect and prepare the paint first, including any polishing agreed for your car.

Keep the finish easier to wash

We apply XPEL FUSION PLUS ceramic coating. Start with the paint, then tell us if you want to discuss wheels, glass, trim or existing PPF. Each surface needs the right product.

What would you like to change?

Dirt is easier to remove when you wash the car. You still need regular washing to keep the finish clean. The paint is cleaned and prepared before coating. Tell us about scratches or swirl marks you want addressed; coating alone will not remove them. Know when to wash your car, which cleaners to use and how to look after the coating between washes.

A quote for your car

The price depends on the size of your car, the condition of the paint and what you want coated. Cleaning and preparing a worn finish takes more work than preparing paint in good condition. Send us your vehicle details and a few photos for a quote. Get a quote.

What to expect afterwards

Follow the first-wash date and care instructions we give you when you collect the car. Use cleaners recommended for your coating, and check whether its warranty requires inspections or maintenance. Keep the written warranty and check whether your product needs registration or regular maintenance.

How much does it cost?

The price of Porsche ceramic coating depends on your model, the areas you want treated and any preparation or old-film removal. Send us the year and model and what you have in mind. We’ll give you a quote for that work.

Ceramic coating vs. wax: what’s the difference?

Both can help water bead and make washing easier. Ceramic coating cures onto a prepared surface; wax leaves a layer that needs renewing. The right choice depends on the finish you want and how you prefer to maintain the car.

Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips?

No. Ceramic coating is too thin to act like paint protection film. If rock chips are your main concern, look at PPF for the exposed panels. Coating is mainly about easier cleaning and maintaining the finish.

Can an older car get ceramic coating?

Yes, if the paint is in suitable condition. Coating will not erase scratches or failing clear coat. We need to look at the finish and agree on any preparation before applying it.

How long does ceramic coating last?

That depends on the coating, how the car is used and how it is washed and maintained. Ask for the exact product and its care instructions. The written warranty should explain any required inspections or maintenance.

Is ceramic coating a film or a liquid?

It is applied as a liquid, then cures on the surface. PPF is a separate sheet of protective film. The two can be used together, but they do different jobs.

Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?

If you want scratches or swirl marks reduced, that work needs to happen before coating. Ceramic coating does not remove them. We will discuss the paint’s condition and include any agreed preparation in the quote.

Will I still need to wash my car?

Yes. Dust, road grime and bird droppings still land on a coated car. Ceramic coating helps dirt release during washing; it does not keep the car clean by itself.

Can ceramic coating get water spots?

Yes. Water can leave mineral deposits as it dries, even when it beads on a coating. Dry the car after washing and remove deposits using the coating maker’s recommended method.

Is ceramic coating scratch-proof?

No. Dirty wash mitts, car-wash brushes and road debris can still scratch the finish. Good washing habits matter just as much after coating.

Can you ceramic coat wheels, glass or trim?

Those surfaces need products made for them. Tell us which areas you want coated so we can confirm what is available and include it in your quote. A paint-coating job does not automatically include wheels or glass.

Get a quote

Can ceramic coating go on matte paint?

Yes, with a coating made for that finish. Tell us if the car has matte paint or satin PPF so the product preserves the look you want. A coating chosen for gloss paint may not be right for it.

Can I take a ceramic-coated car through an automatic car wash?

Brushes can scratch a coated finish, just as they can uncoated paint. Strong wash chemicals can also affect the coating. Follow your product’s wash guidance and tell us if automatic washes are part of your routine.

When can I wash my car after ceramic coating?

Use the first-wash date given at collection. A new coating needs time to cure, and the wait varies by product and conditions. Ask about rain or other water exposure during that period, too.

Do I still need wax over ceramic coating?

Do not add wax or a topper unless it is recommended for your coating. Extra products can change how the surface sheds water. Use the coating’s aftercare instructions to choose maintenance products.

Why does paint preparation affect ceramic coating cost?

Coating goes over the finish that is already there. Cleaning off bonded dirt and addressing paint marks takes time. A larger car or paint that needs more attention can mean more preparation and a higher price.

Is ceramic coating worth it?

It can be worthwhile if you want washing to be easier and are willing to keep caring for the finish. It is less useful if your main concern is stone chips, or if you expect never to wash the car again. Tell us what you want to change about looking after your car.

Can I use PPF and ceramic coating together?

Yes. Paint protection film helps protect against small stone chips and scuffs; ceramic coating makes the surface easier to wash. Install the PPF first, then apply a coating made for that film. The coating can also go on prepared paint on panels without PPF.

Is ceramic coating over PPF worth it?

It can be if easier cleaning is your goal. Some PPF already sheds water well, so the benefit depends on the film you have and how you care for the car. Adding coating will not make the film chip-proof or remove the need to wash it.

Which goes on first: PPF or ceramic coating?

PPF goes on the prepared paint first. A compatible ceramic coating goes over the film after the required preparation and drying time. We’ll explain the timing for the products used on your car.

Can you install PPF over an existing ceramic coating?

Tell us about the coating before booking. The film needs a surface its adhesive can bond to, so the existing coating may need removing from the panels receiving PPF. That preparation needs to be included in your quote.

Get a quote

Can I get full-front PPF and ceramic coating on the rest of the car?

Yes. That lets you protect the front panels from small chips and make the rest of the paint easier to clean. A compatible coating can also go over the PPF. Your quote will list which panels get film, coating or both.

Get a quote

How much do PPF and ceramic coating cost together?

The price depends on your car, the amount of film, the coating and the paint preparation. Full-body PPF covers more of the car and takes more work than full-front PPF. Send us your year, make and model and the areas you want protected for a combined quote from our Colorado Springs studio.

Get a quote

Will ceramic coating over PPF stop rock chips?

The PPF provides the physical barrier against small stone impacts. Ceramic coating helps with cleaning; it does not add another thick layer of chip protection. A hard or sharp impact can still damage the film and the paint underneath.

Can you ceramic coat satin or matte PPF?

Yes, with a coating made for that film and finish. XPEL STEALTH is the matte-finish PPF. A suitable coating helps with cleaning while preserving that appearance. Tell us the film you have so we can check compatibility before applying anything.

How do I wash a car with PPF and ceramic coating?

Wait until the installer says both products are ready for washing. Use a gentle wash method and approved cleaners, keep pressure-washer jets away from film edges, and dry the car to reduce water spots. Neither PPF nor coating makes the car self-cleaning.

How long does ceramic coating last on PPF?

That depends on the coating, the film, exposure and maintenance. The film and coating have their own service lives and warranty terms; adding one does not reset the warranty on the other. Ask us for the care instructions and written coverage for both products.

How do I get a quote and book?

Send us your car’s year, make and model and tell us what you’d like done. Photos help if there’s old film or paint damage. We’ll work out the price and available dates with you before booking; sending the form does not book an appointment.

What’s included in my quote, and what does the warranty cover?

Your quote should list the product, windows or panels covered, preparation, price and expected timing. Warranty coverage depends on the product and is separate from installation workmanship. Ask us for the written terms for your installation, including exclusions, registration and how to make a claim.
